Campaign Leadership Academy

Applications are Due July 7, 2024 (deadline extended!)

Want to run for office or serve as paid staff on local campaigns?

LA Forward Institute’s Campaign Leadership Academy (CLA) will recruit and train LA County residents to be effective potential campaign leaders and candidates, positioning participants with the knowledge, skills, and vision to activate as campaign staff during the upcoming general election and as staff or candidates in future election cycles. This is a non-partisan program free to all community members.

CLA is a month-long cohort experience from July through August 2024, and will:

  • Provide almost 20 hours of in-person workshops, along with additional Zoom-based or asynchronous learning opportunities to build or practice skills between in-person workshops.

  • Support participants to select and volunteer for a campaign of their choice as a way of extending their learning into experience and practice, not only for direct voter contact shifts (like canvassing and phone-banking), but also for other support roles that might prepare them for future campaigns

Prospective applicants should be available during all of the following dates:

  • 10am-4pm, Saturday, July 20

  • 10am-4pm, Saturday, August 3

  • 10am-4pm, Saturday, August 17

Overall, prospective applicants should expect a cumulative 30 hours of engagement between the first and last workshops of the cohort. We will not be able to admit any candidates who cannot make all three in-person workshops.

Apply below by 11:59pm Sunday, July 7, 2024.
